At Home in Casa Quinde

One of the primary daytime activities here at Casa Quinde is the daily walk - from the casa to the patio hammock! (Usually carrying a book - always carrying sunblock!)

From the porches and the patio you can just day-dream, or you could count the kinds of birds as they feed in the trees and among the garden flowers,
or watch the clouds and their shadows as they play across Volcán Imbabura, an ever-changing vista as the Sun makes its way across the sky.

There are few places in the world that offer more in the way of tranquility... or more of an occasion to just relax and truly,
 "get away from it all".

Your evenings can be spent in conversation
in front of the fire; you could finish that book and start another; watch a dvd; play a board game; star-gaze...

However... if you are inclined to a slightly more active life-style, you can see below a sampling of what our neighbors, the Monasterio and the Hacienda, have to offer:

At the Monasterio/Hacienda

The Monasterio grounds on which Casa Quinde is located and the neighboring Hacienda estate are criss-crossed with paths and walkways that take you through gardens and past fountains and pools.  There are birds to be counted and plants, flowers and trees to be marveled at.  There are courtyards to be discovered, works of art to be admired - or created... bring your blank canvases, easel, paints and palette, your sketch pad, pencils and charcoals... certainly your camera, as photo opportunities abound.

Besides the walks in the gardens, the hosterías invite you to share in their offerings... there are movies in the library; tea (and other beverages, including some involving alcohol) on the terraces or inside by a fire in one of the common rooms.  There is a ping-pong table (table tennis); a pool table; a squash court; a basketball court; and a volleyball court.  There is a collection of animals (with llamas, of course) in the Establos area.  One can go horseback riding or mountain-bike riding.  A candle-lit dinner at the Hacienda amid old world ambiance is not to be missed... and, a short stroll under the stars will take you back to Casa Quinde after dinner!

Cusín's English speaking reception staff have a great deal of experience in helping their own guests and have always been more than pleased to make arrangements for our guests that will make a stay at Casa Quinde most memorable:  a masseur or masseuse to come to the house... or, a tutor for private lessons in Spanish... or, a day excursion with perhaps a picnic lunch... just ask, they are a wonderful, helpful resource generously made available by the hosterías to the residents of Casa Quinde!

And, for those looking for even more to occupy their time here, we can offer the following suggestions:
